Welcome to Counselling with Andy
Under the right conditions, therapy offers the opportunity to rewrite your story
As a fully qualified counsellor, I work with a variety of problems with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I am an accredited member of National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and my work is aligned with their ethical code of practice. Educated to a professional level, I am committed to providing the highest possible care, so each year I undergo continued professional development, to help build upon my existing knowledge and skills, which enables me to offer a wide range of effective support.
Counselling has been a passion of mine for such a long time. My interest in counselling was born out of a desire to better understand myself. Over the years this developed into wanting to help others. I gained knowledge and experience along the way, through working and volunteering in a number of different settings, such as a bereavement line, and with local charities and organisations, which offered mental health & wellbeing support within the community. I fully believe that we have an innate capacity for growth, which is why I am passionate about helping people overcome potential barriers, which may be preventing them from being more aligned with who they want to be and to live a more authentic life.
As a counsellor, I work in a very person-centred way, following a pluralistic model to therapy. This means my approach is strongly based on the therapeutic relationship, while being able to skilfully adapt to your individual needs. My aim of counselling is to help you understand your own inner experience, by exploring your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour and how these may be influencing you in the here and now. This may involve helping you sit with or process difficult emotions however by exploring these in a safe non-judgemental environment, together we can examine what you are experiencing and work collaboratively to understand your needs and what might work best for you therapeutically.
People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Depression
Problems with family
Grief & loss
Loneliness & isolation
Relationship problems
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Self - harm & suicidal thoughts
I work from a private room located in Retford and I offer online sessions for individuals seeking counselling. Contact me to find out more about how online counselling works.
Finding the right therapist can make all the difference and this is why I offer a free 20-minute consultation. This offers the opportunity for us to explore together whether I would be the right therapist for you and how I might best be able to support your individual needs. I offer both short- and long-term therapy, with sessions usually take place on a weekly basis, however I understand that this is not always possible, so I recognise the need to provide a more flexible approach.
Individual sessions fees are £50 per session however, I do provide a limited number of sessions at a reduced cost for those on low income or for students, which can be discussed at consultation. Payments are made via bank transfer.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange a free consultation. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
